VConnect : Is it Truly No. 1 & Unique Local Search Engine in Nigeria?

Recently one of my friend suggested a site called VConnect. He told me that VConnect is the largest local search engine in Nigeria and that people can find information about products, services and companies in Nigeria. He further stated that they have the unique Tele Search feature which helps Nigerians to find information easily. My friend is big fan of this site and has almost became a brand ambassador of it.

My first reaction was!  “Hey man! U don de work for VConnect and U nor tell me”, and what's the big deal when lots of sites offer this same service.  In a quest to find out more I took time to shoot series of questions at him. I asked:
  • What do you mean by local search engine? And why do you say it is the largest one in Nigeria?
  • Is it yet an another business directory?
  • How is VConnect different from the others?
  • What do you mean by it having the unique Tele search feature?
He was almost stunned by these questions. But my friend being a smart guy, who works for a reputable bank, explained everything about VConnect to me. He couldn’t have done it better

This was what he said "Oga, you can't compare Google with VConnect. Though you can search for anything in Google but in VConnect, you can only search for information about products, services or companies listed in Naija. Google doesn't provide you with such details as local businesses in Naija. VConnect provides the most comprehensive information for all B2B and B2C products and services in Nigeria".

He further told me that "There are a number of business directories available in Nigeria but none can boast of a database of at least 200,000  businesses with up to date information and it’s the only site that allow you send business information through SMS/Email to your friends freely.” He went further…..‘‘Let's say you car breaks down on a highway and you don't know what to do. All you simply have to do is call an easy number 070 0000 8888 and you will get contacts of nearest mechanics sent instantly to you from which you can call any to come help fix the car. “

So the Tele Search is all about this. Finding information by just dialing their number. VConnect has adequately filled the information gap that has hitherto existed between products/services providers and consumers.

After the conversation, I took out time to check the site and i was amazed by the site content & its vast information. I wondered why I have never seen or heard anything about this service before now. My friend told me that VConnect has not been officially launched, nonetheless it is gaining so much popularity going by its fan base on face book and twitter. I am certain that once this site is launched, it will undisputedly be the No. 1 business directory/ search engine in Nigeria.

I am now a fan of this site and joined the VConnect's fan page @vconnectnigeria (http://www.facebook.com/vconnectnigeria). I have made it a duty to tell all my pals about it.

What is VConnect? | VConnect : Local Search Engine in Nigeria

Recently I came across a site called VConnect. This site’s name is really easy to remember but often confused with similar site names like V-Connect, myVconnect and other similar ones. For those who are still not clear about VConnect; let me tell you that VConnect is a free local search engine in Nigeria where people can find information about any products, services or companies listed in Nigeria.

VConnect claims that more than 200,000 businesses are listed on its site. If it’s true then I think it is really great news for Nigerian people. I got a chance to look at this site in detail. You can search any information for free by visiting its website (www.vconnect.com)and send business information to mobile / email which is good. I am also impressed by its movies/theater feature where you can see current movies which are being screened in Nigerian theaters and quick help line numbers in Nigeria.

But what I found most interesting about this site is to have its call center facility. I believe it’s great & unique business concept in Nigeria. To my knowledge no Nigerian site offers this facility where people can call to 070 0000 8888 to find any information about product, service or company.

Although I am also skeptic about its call center feature; I mean how many people will spend N20 to N50 per minute just to get product or service information. It will be huge success although if call rate comes down over the period of time.

Apart from that I have experienced website’s loading time is high in few cases. But overall I find this site very user friendly and recommend all Nigerians (Naija people) to visit VConnect.com
